A new study shows the earlier an individual first tries drugs or alcohol, the more likely they are to develop a substance abuse problem later in life. Lakeview Health Systems, an addiction treatment center, confirms that the years before the age of 15 are especially fragile. They encourage parents to take preventive measures, as well as to intervene as soon as possible if they suspect drug or alcohol use.
